Sr. Grand Master Greg Harper

For over 20 years, Sr. Grand Master (GM) Greg Harper has been deeply immersed in the art of Kajukenbo, a journey that led him to become the highest-ranking student under the late GM Larry "Gumo" Gumataotao. Asa personal bodyguard to the revered Sijo A.D. Emperado for an impressive 14 years, Greg's dedication to Kajukenbo runs inextricably linked to the art's rich history and heritage.

Sr. Grand Master Harper's journey in Kajukenbo began under the watchful eye of GM Gumataotao, the last direct student of the legendary Sijo A.D. Emperado, often referred to as the "Godfather" of Kajukenbo. Gumo guided Greg from colored belt ranking all the way to the esteemed level of a high-ranking Black Belt during their time together. As GM Harper imbibed the teachings of both GM Gumataotao and Sijo Emperado, he forged a profound connection to the essence of Kajukenbo.

With an unyielding commitment to preserving the essence ofKajukenbo, GM Harper stands as a living link to its origins. His direct instruction from GM Gumataotao while being mentored by Sijo Emperado himelfallowed him to grasp the deepest philosophies and practical techniques of the art form.As a testament to his expertise and dedication, Grand MasterHarper has achieved the remarkable rank of a ninth-degree Black Belt. This distinction not only showcases his technical proficiency but also underscores the depth of his knowledge and experience in Kajukenbo.

GM Harper's passion for Kajukenbo extends beyond personal practice. He was honored to be selected as one of the Kajukenbo instructors on the Discovery Channel's prestigious show, "Fight Quest". In this captivating series, GM Harper was tasked with training one of the show's stars in the art of Kajukenbo over the course of a week, culminating in a thrilling fight at the end of their training.

The world watched in awe as Greg Harper, the embodiment of Kajukenbo's essence, showcased the art on the international stage during the "Fight Quest" series. His ability to impart the intricacies of Kajukenbo to the show's star epitomized his talent as an instructor and his commitment to sharing Kajukenbo's legacy with the world. 

‍Beyond his own accomplishments, GM Harper has established himself as a revered teacher and mentor. His Kajukenbo school has nurtured and inspired countless students, guiding them to unlock their true potential both as martial artists and as individuals. 

7th Degree

Sigung Paula Lofgren

Sigung Lofgren currently holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo Martial Arts under Sr. Grandmaster Greg Harper. She is a certified Self-Defense Instructor and Fitness Instructor.  At a very early  age she began sparring and developed a love for boxing because her  father was a professional boxer. It was something they both loved and it was time she enjoyed spending with her father.

Later on, she moved on to kickboxing and also practiced different martial arts styles until she moved to a different town and got introduced to Kajukenbo through  Grandmaster Andy Torok, her kickboxing coach.  Through 2013, Sigung Lofgren lived in Illinois and studied Kajukenbo,  among other forms of martial arts and  fighting, at Karate Institute (Kajukenbo), Prairie Aikikai (Aikido), United MMA (Wing Chun, Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai), Harding's Family Martial Arts (Kajukenbo), and Empower Martial Arts and Fitness (Kajukenbo). While living in  Illinois, she traveled frequently to attend as many martial arts training  seminars and workshops as possible.  

Sigung then moved to California in 2013, where she trained Kajukenbo, the Ramos Method, under GM Emil Bautista, and trained a combination of Kajukenbo, boxing, kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu at both Rapacon's MMA under GM Chris Rapacon and Tribull MMA  under Sigung Christian Smith.  She started teaching Kajukenbo at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield with GM Glen Fraticelli until she moved out of the Bay Area in 2015.

In November 2014, she was the 4th woman inducted into the USA Savate World Pugilist Hall of Fame. This organization strives to 'honor and preserve the heritage, records, and achievements of those who excelled in the Pugilistic Combat arts.’ Sigung now lives in Visalia, CA where she trains and teaches at Harper's Kajupit Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness with Sr. GM Greg Harper. She also judges at many martial arts tournaments, teaches self-defense seminars, and is a guest instructor at various martial arts schools and seminars.
